Pull Up Bar | Chin Up Bar and Dip Bar Reviews
Pull Up Bar and Power Towers
A power tower is basically a combination pull up and dip station. These are great if you have limited space (or funds) and can’t buy a power rack (which has a chin up bar included and optional dip station arms). They allow you to perform dips, pull ups, and knee/leg raises which works almost your entire upper body, including back, biceps, triceps, chest, and abs. Once you get strong enough, you can even pick up a dip belt and hang weight plates off of yourself to keep increasing your strength once your bodyweight is too easy.
Weider 200 Power Tower Review
The Weider 200 Power Tower is a great power tower for not much money. It has 4 different stations, including pull up, dip, leg raise, and push-up. One really nice feature is the pull-up bar is on the opposite side of the dip station, which means you can do a lot of alternate style pull ups (including a kipping pull-up for Crossfit style workouts) and not hit your knees/legs on the other parts of the equipment. It also has an awesome feature for those of you who are struggling to do pull ups and need an assist: It has a bar that you can stand on to make your pull-ups easier. This is a great way to build up to being able to do un-assisted pull ups. Lastly, it has a 300lb weight capacity (we had to do some digging to find this info), so keep this in mind if you are a big guy. Click here

Doorway Pull Up Bar | Chin Up Bar

The MDUSA Door Frame Pull Up Bar features 6 different grip positions and is quality built for durability and comfort. This bar has been designed to fit most residential doorways ranging from 24” to 36” wide with rubber coated stoppers to hold the bar in position. The big reason we like this pull-up bar over the standard Iron Gym bar is the included brackets that screw into the studs above your door frame that lock in the bar to provide additional support. This feature is not common and made exclusively for MDUSA to help ensure the bar will not break the door frame like many other models on the market today. It also ensures that the bar won’t fall down when you use a little “body english” during your pull-ups (I previously owned an Iron Gym and fell on my ass when I swung a little on a pull up and it detached from the doorway). It’s optional to use those, so if you just want to hang it over the door frame like a normal bar, you can do that too. Click here to check this pull-up bar out.
Pendlay Elite Pull-Up System
The Pendlay Elite Pull Up System is for those of you who want a dedicated chin up bar in your home gym that can handle almost any amount of weight. It is quite possibly the most versatile solution on the market. As with other systems that are available, the brackets can be mounted running parallel to ceilings studs. But the similarities stop there. The Pendlay Elite “off center” design allows for two independent sets of secure points. One set is designed for ceilings with studs that are 12” on center and one set is designed for ceilings with studs that are 16” on center. This means that the system can be mounted parallel or perpendicular to the studs in most any ceiling or wall.
The two included brackets and 48″ crossbar are made in the USA of high quality, high strength steel. The brackets and crossbar are specially coated with a unique thermal powder coating system that provides the perfect balance between slicker painted bars and rough traditional powder coating.
