Dumbbell Set | Dumbbell Weight Set
Cap Dumbbell Set
The 40 lb Cap Dumbbell Set. is a fantastic value for an adjustable dumbbell set. Dumbbell sets can be surprisingly expensive, so if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a dumbbell set, this is the set for you.
This dumbbell weight set is adjustable and easy to use. The ends screw off to allow you to slide weight plates on and off. One great feature is that the ends screw off, rather than slide off like some crappier dumbbell sets. This is important because if your dumbbell set has smooth ends with spring clips, then there is a greater chance that the weights could slip off while you have the dumbbell over your head. There’s no chance of that happening with this dumbbell weight set.
This dumbbell set comes with 40lbs (20 lbs on each dumbbell), but it’s easy to buy cheap weight plates and add more weight. The only drawback with this dumbbell weight set is that it has about an 80 lbs maximum weight per dumbbell because that’s all that can fit on the handles. This may or may not be an issue for you depending on how strong you are or what exercises you use the dumbbells for. Click here to check out the best dumbbell set under $80.
Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbell Set
These are great adjustable dumbbells if you want the ultimate in convenience and style. These allow you to choose from dozens of different weight settings and quickly change the weight of the dumbbells. There are two different options with the Bowflex dumbbell set depending on how much weight you need. The Bowflex Dumbbells 1090 can be adjusted from 10 lbs to 90 lbs with 5 lb increments. The Bowflex Dumbbells 552
go from 5 lbs to 52.5 lbs, with 2.5 lb increments from 5 lbs to 25 lbs and 5 lb increments once you get above 25 lbs. You can do a lot of exercises with under 50 lbs of dumbbells, but if you’re a strong guy or plan on doing bench press or rows, you’ll probably want the 90 lb dumbbell weight set This dumbbell set is a great choice for those of you doing P90X or who don’t want a ton of dumbbells lying around.

Body Solid Dumbbell Set
These hex dumbbells are easy to stack and use, the Body Solid Dumbbell Set is great for those of you outfitting a commercial gym or would like the same level of convenience at home. The Body Solid dumbbells range from 5 lbs to 50 lbs, with solid cast iron cores and rubber surrounds. Another thing that makes these great rather than a set like the Bowflex is that if one dumbbell somehow breaks, it’s cheap to replace. If you’re setting up the ultimate home gym, this is the dumbbell set to get.
We found a great review of these dumbbells comparing them to the Bowflex ones: “I have the Bowflex Selectech 552 dumbbells, but one of them broke. One caveat with those and that you put all your eggs in one basket, which is why I started looking into individual dumbbells. If one breaks, you’re only out $10 to $50 to replace it.
Positives:
+ Superior build quality. I expect these to last years and years.
+ Shipping was a good experience. This is a 550 lb. package! Freight company organized delivery and put it right at my doorstep.
+ Reading other dumbbell reviews, some have a rubber, stinky smell. These have just a faint smell, less than a Kong dog toy. I would have had to knock it down a star if it did.
Negatives:
- None so far. I’m very pleased with these weights, and certain this was the best package for the price.”
